ABOUT

Kyle Bruxvoort

that's me

that's me

I'm Director of Design Technology at Southwest Solutions Group, in Bentonville, Arkansas. I own Fetch, our Revit plugin and content platform, I run the team that builds the families behind it, and I spend the rest of my time working out what AI is actually good for in construction. I design the tools and then build them, which is the part most people pick one of.

how I got here

how I got here

I studied architecture at the University of Arkansas and never practised. I joined SSG in 2014 to run BIM, which mostly meant being the person who noticed that nobody agreed on how a Revit family should be built. Nobody taught me to code. It went Excel formulas, then Dynamo automations, then Python so I could push Dynamo further, then pySSG on pyRevit. C#, TypeScript and Postgres came after that, and AI is how I get through the parts I would otherwise have had to hand to someone else. I also hand grind and weigh a pour over every single morning. Same instinct, lower stakes.

off the clock

off the clock

Indoor and outdoor soccer, and I coach my son's team. Two dogs. Leia is our fake German Shepherd, found in a field, breed still unknown. Gizmo is a Pomeranian and he is the one in the picture. I used to read only non-fiction, so I built myself a habit tracker to get into fiction, and it has me past 400 days and thirty-odd books. Mostly Matt Dinniman, Mark Lawrence, R.F. Kuang, Joe Abercrombie, Robert Jackson Bennett, Brandon Sanderson and Pierce Brown. Keeping a streak to make myself read novels is faintly ridiculous and it worked.
